Quartet Conversations

Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival shows bands of the name in green, purple, and blue text with line drawing of a mountain range in silhouette. In the background is a line of musical notation.

Join us in our air-conditioned auditorium for a summertime chamber music performance.

Talented students from a Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival string quartet will perform music from the classical era, and the audience will listen in as a music scholar speaks about the music they have played. This event is part of the new Quartet Conversations series which invites listeners to deepen their understanding of the music, its composer, and its context. The lecture will be led by Nathaniel Lew, Professor Emeritus from St. Michael's College. Nat is giving a series of talks and has titled his series "Four Reasonable People Conversing": Three Perspectives on the Classical-Era String Quartet. Today's talk is entitled: "People": Personal Expression and Emotional Intensity.

This concert is most appropriate for audiences ages 10 and up, or for people of any age who can sit quietly and enjoy listening to music for 30-60 minutes. Chat with the performers over light refreshments in the South Burlington Public Art Gallery after the performance.

The Library is ADA accessible, patrons are asked to call (802) 846-4140 in advance if special services are required.

Masks may be worn in the library and at any library program.
