February Morning Book Group: Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner

Join the Library's morning book group in reading and discussing Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner.

In this exquisite story of family, food, grief, and endurance, Michelle Zauner proves herself far more than a dazzling singer, songwriter, and guitarist. With humor and heart, she tells of growing up one of the few Asian American kids at her school in Eugene, Oregon; of struggling with her mother's particular, high expectations of her; of a painful adolescence; of treasured months spent in her grandmother's tiny apartment in Seoul, where she and her mother would bond, late at night, over heaping plates of food.

If you're not familiar with the name Michelle Zauner, you may recognize her band, Japanese Breakfast. Zauner is an amazing songwriter and her writing chops are on full display in this often wistful memoir describing life as a rebellious youth trying to reconcile her Asian heritage in a very white Eugene, Oregon.

Print, ebooks and downloadable audiobook copies will be available to borrow from the Library or Libby. This discussion will be hybrid, with in-person or Zoom options.

The Book Group will be held in the Board Room.
