Cookbook Club: The Moosewood Cookbook

Book cover shows the title in an arc over a drawing of a beet leaf, an orange slice, and a half radish.

Love to eat? Love to cook? Join us for a monthly cookbook feast! Each month, the group picks recipes from a single book. Each participant chooses a recipe from the book and prepares it for the group's meeting. At our meeting, we eat the dishes we've all prepared and talk about what inspired us to make them.

In April, we're taking on a classic, The Moosewood Cookbook by Mollie Katzen. In 1974, Mollie Katzen hand-wrote, illustrated, and published a spiral-bound notebook of recipes for vegetarian dishes inspired by those served at a small restaurant co-op in Ithaca, NY. With her sophisticated, easy-to-prepare vegetarian recipes, charming pen-and-ink drawings, hand lettering, and conversational tone, Mollie introduced millions to a more healthful, natural way of cooking. Several awards, editions, and millions of copies later, the Moosewood Cookbook has helped generations fall in love with plant-based home cooking.
