On the Art Wall

A series of paintings by Andria Lovejoy derived from places she visited during a west coast Ireland adventure in 2024.

From Andria: "I am in the midst of losing my vision due to a degenerating neurological disease of retinal layer of my eyes. By last year the cells that determine how I see color have now become affected so I am not entirely sure, but I believe that my remaining sense of color and my memory of how to mix colors is good enough for now. This may be the final series that I do in this way; visit a place and depict a landscape or seascape. Things got a bit tight in these paintings. Maybe I was working harder than usual. Moving forward I may have to become more abstract in my work. We shall see. We shall see."

In the Display Case

A collection of halloween themed Barbie dioramas curated and designed by Peter Harrigan.

Peter Harrigan has created college theatre productions for 39 years, with 34 at Saint Michael’s College in Colchester. A lifelong Pop Culture fan, he has a very healthy inner child. Peter began gathering fashion dolls in 1993, discovered other collectors online in 1996, and first attended National Barbie Conventions in 2005. He releases his dolls from their packaging and enjoys finding, adapting, and making props, furniture, clothing, and backdrops for them; it is a miniature version of his theatre work. He recently founded a club called “Champlain Valley of the Dolls” and enjoys sharing the love of dolls and play with like-minded Vermonters.

When Peter was a child, Halloween was a one-day holiday celebrated mostly by children. But now U.S. News & World Report estimates that over 70% of Americans dress their homes or themselves for this spooky season. So naturally, Barbie wants IN!
