Painting by Pievy Polyte

In February the South Burlington Library will be hosting a selection of paintings from Burlington artist Pievy Polyte.

Polyte, originally from Haiti, is a professional and an experienced artist who creates art to fund Peak Macaya Cooperative, a nonprofit he founded in Haiti. Peak Macaya Cooperative has built schools, composting toilets, and worked on reforestation projects. They grow coffee, cocoa, fruit and vegetables while aiming to promote bio diversity of Haiti's second tallest mountain. Polyte was an agronomist, artist, chef, teacher, and founder of school, and founder of a coffee cooperative in Haiti. Now he is a Burlington resident creating beautiful and vibrant art in the community. His paintings are inspired by Haiti, Vermont people, landscapes, shipyards, spiritual traditions and music, and some of his paintings are commissions on more abstract themes such as love.

Proceeds from all of his painting sales go directly to Peak Macaya Co-op. To learn more about Peak Macaya Co-op, visit their website peakmacayaco-op.com.

The Library is ADA accessible, patrons are asked to call (802) 846-4140 in advance if special services are required.

Masks may be worn in the library and at any library program.
