Come Write In! NaNoWriMo

Calling all writers: this NaNoWriMo, Come Write In!

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a month-long event in November in which people all over the world commit to writing a 50,000-word novel in 30 days.

South Burlington Public Library welcomes NaNoWriMo writers to come in and kick off an inspired month.

Join us in the Quiet Reading Room:

Pep talks. Each year, authors offer mentorship to NaNoWriMo participants through pep talks. Past author mentors have included Gene Luen Yang, Roxane Gay, Kacen Callender, John Green, Andy Weir, N. K. Jemisin, and Veronica Roth. Recent pep talks for authors, from authors.

Does this really work?

The only way to find out if NaNoWriMo will work for you is to try. From the NanoWriMo website, we can tell you that in 2021:

427,653 writers participated in our programs, including 90,561 students and educators in the Young Writers Program.
842 volunteer Municipal Liaisons guided 671 regions on six continents.
406 libraries, bookstores, and community centers opened their doors to novelists through the Come Write In program.
51,507 Campers tackled a writing project—novel or not—at Camp NaNoWriMo.
Hundreds of NaNoWriMo novels have been traditionally published. They include Sara Gruen’s Water for Elephants, Erin Morgenstern’s The Night Circus, Hugh Howey’s Wool, Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl, Jason Hough’s The Darwin Elevator, and Marissa Meyer’s Cinder.
