Real (and Reel) People: Barbies from the Collection of Peter Harrigan
In October we are featuring a selection of Peter Harrigan's Barbies in our Display Case. This time, Peter's collection focuses on Barbies made in the likeness of real people and book or movie characters. We've paired these characters with books and DVDs from our collection. If inspired, feel free to ask a Librarian to fetch the reading and watching material from the Display Case to check out and bring home with you.
Peter Harrigan created college theatre productions for 40 years, with 35 at Saint Michael’s College in Colchester. A lifelong Pop Culture fan, he has a very healthy inner child. Peter began gathering fashion dolls in 1993, discovered other collectors online in 1996, and first attended National Barbie Conventions in 2005. He releases his dolls from their packaging and especially enjoys finding, adapting, and making props, furniture, clothing, and backdrops for them; it is a miniature version of his theatre work! He enjoys sharing his adventures as a male doll collector and showing examples from his collection.
