Westlaw Pilot in Select Vermont Libraries

The Community Legal Information Center (CLIC) is sponsoring computer access to a limited version of Westlaw in eight libraries throughout the state of Vermont. This agreement will allow library patrons at these Vermont libraries and in surrounding towns to access Westlaw for legal research on cases, statues, and more. Library patrons will have access to features provided by West’s editorial staff that can make
researching easier and faster at these more accessible locations. This project is made possible by the Vermont Department of Libraries and the Vermont Law and Graduate school.

What is Westlaw?

Westlaw is one of the largest legal databases that provides access to resources on case law, state and federal statutes, administrative codes, newspaper and magazine articles, public records, law journals, law reviews, treatises, legal forms and other information resources. Westlaw has a robust keyword search function and is great at linking to related cases in each document's cited sources, making it easy to seek out and find a wealth of information related to your original search.

What towns offer computer access to Westlaw?

  • Fletcher Free Library
  • Charlotte Library
  • Enosburgh Public Library
  • Manchester Community Library
  • Kellogg Hubbard Library
  • Rutland Free Library
  • Springfield Town Library
  • Windsor Public Library.

Patrons in towns nearby any of these libraries (South Burlington residents!) are encouraged to visit and access Westlaw on their public computers.

What other legal resources are available through my library?
