Summer Reading is for Everyone!

This summer we invite you to Unearth A Story with us as we dig into good books, explore our community, and recognize that every person has a story waiting to be found and shared! From gardening at Jaycee Park to a live taping of But Why to a visit from Champ to pirates and birds and so much more, we have something for everyone to enjoy. We'll have a new scavenger hunt in the KidSpace designed to introduce kids to new areas of the library. Visit our worm farm and write a story or diary entry in our community worm journal. Keep your eye out on our website and social media pages for a weekly challenge (you might want to start thinking now about what your favorite dinosaur is and why...) You'll find us in the library, at Rec on the Go events, and at the brand-new Farmers Market for all kinds of summer reading fun!

Prizes for all ages are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Library. The SB Library Foundation generously sponsored our summer reading bags. Keep an eye on our website and social media pages for more information about summer reading, summer programs, and pop-up events in August. Join us for an adventure-filled summer!

Birth to Age 3:

Thank you for your interest in our summer reading program for 0-3 year olds! Our registration is full. We encourage you to look at our Early Literacy summer reading guide below and visit us at the South Burlington Public Library on Wednesdays at 10:30am for baby storytime or Thursdays at 9:15am or 10:30am for our all ages storytime through Thursday, August 6.

Elementary Grades - PreK to 4th Grade:

Registration for PreK-4th grade begins June 13 and goes until August 8. Registration can be done at the library or online here PreK-8th Grade Summer Reading sign up. Registration automatically enters you into weekly raffles for prizes!

Starting June 13th, stop by the library to pick up a free summer reading bag filled with your chart, information on how to get free tickets to the Champlain Valley Fair by reading, and more! Can't make it to the library and still want to participate? Sign up and download your chart below!

Once you’ve finished your chart, bring it to the library no later than August 8 to receive a coupon for a free kid’s creemee from Judi’s Ice Cream!

Middle Grades - 5th to 8th Grade:

Registration for 5th-8th grade begins June 13 and goes until August 8. Registration can be done in person at the library or online here: PreK-8th Grade Summer Reading sign up.

Starting June 13th, stop by the library to pick up a free summer reading bag with your first BINGO card and information on how to get free tickets to the Champlain Valley Fair by reading. Each BINGO you complete gives you 1 raffle ticket to win prizes. You can select which prize you’d like to enter your raffle ticket for at the library or online here: Middle School RAFFLE entry. Once you complete 1 BINGO, bring your chart to the library to receive a coupon for a free kid’s creemee from Judi’s Ice Cream!

Raffle ticket winners will be announced the week of August 9th.

Teens - Age 13-19:

Registration for Teen Summer Reading starts June 13th and goes until August 8th.

Registration is simple: just fill out a raffle ticket with your name, contact info, and age, then put the raffle ticket towards a prize bundle of your choice. Come to the upstairs desk to register.

You can earn tickets for:

Registering for Summer Reading (filling out a raffle ticket = your registration)
Getting a BINGO
Getting a Grab-and-Go kit
Attending an event

For each raffle ticket you earn, fill the ticket and put it towards a prize bundle. And remember, the more raffle tickets you earn, the more chances you'll have to win!

Adults:

Registration for Adults begins June 13 and goes until August 8. Registration can be done upstairs at the library or online here: Adult Summer Reading sign up. Registration automatically earns you a raffle ticket for one of three (3) fabulous themed prizes selected just for adult readers. Come to the second floor desk or call the library to enter the raffle of your choice.

Starting June 13th, stop by the library to pick up a free summer reading bag and a free book of your choosing while supplies last. Add to your summer reading fun by grabbing a BINGO card and challenging yourself to read more, or to get out and explore more of what South Burlington has to offer!

Keep an eye on our calendar for free music and pop-up events, and visit the upstairs desk for weekly giveaways June 13 through August 8.
