New and Notable Online Learning Resources

In the past few months, the Vermont Online Library online resource databases have been updated. Please see those changes below, along with some information on other new and useful databases available to you as a library patron. You will need a library card to access these resources, and in some cases you will need to make an account using an email address.

Database changes to know about:

For patrons who use Universal Class, please be aware that the state subscription ended on Aug. 31, 2024. Unfortunately you will no longer be able to use this site. We recommend switching to our new resource, Gale Presents: Udemy. Udemy is an online learning platform with 20,000 video courses on a huge range of topics: business, coding, music, cooking, and more! It offers well-structured video courses and assignments that you can complete at your own pace and in whatever order you want. You can access Udemy by following the link on our library’s Online Learning and Research Tools page or going to the Vermont Online Library homepage.

For patrons familiar with Learning Express please be aware that the state subscription ended on May 31, 2024. It’s been replaced by Gale Presents: Peterson’s Test and Career Prep which covers many of the same topics (including CDL training). It includes career certification exams, and vocational test prep tools for nursing, law enforcement, real estate, teaching, trucking, and more. It also offers standardized test preparation, undergraduate and graduate program research, tuition assistance information, and career advice, as well as help with resumes and cover letters. New or noteworthy databases to explore:

Interested in resources for auto care? Take a look at the Chilton Library available through the Vermont Online Library. This online resource helps people save money on repairs and maintenance by providing expert, step-by-step guidance, and equips them with authoritative information that’s helpful when seeking professional car care services. Chilton has recently expanded their coverage to more makes and models, including Subaru. Take a look at what is available on the Chilton Library yourself. Need help with finding the right legal form or finding an attorney? Take a look at Gale Legal Forms. With this database you can access a wide selection of state-specific (and multi-state) legal forms and resources across the most popular legal areas. You can also find useful legal definitions, a directory attorneys by state and practice, and helpful topic summaries of a variety of legal proceedings.
